My story
Attending an international school in France and growing up in a multicultural family has sparked in me a passion for international politics and human rights and from a young age. Born and raised in France to Irish-Australian and French-Portuguese parents has afforded me a unique insight and understanding into the lives of others and a desire to somehow find a way to tell the stories of people less fortunate than ourselves, which is why I wish to use this desire and transform it into film. In addition to being bilingual in French and English, I previously studied Spanish and German to B2 level. Which brought me to spend three weeks on a student exchange in Bavaria, Germany in DP1. Through this experience I found myself submerged in the language and culture, as well as meeting new people and living within a different family. Through hard work and dedication outside of my studies and in my spare time I am pursuing my passion for linguistics by learning Swedish on Duolingo. Thus establishing my goal to produce films in a variety of languages in order to pertain to the wider audience internationally.
The one inspiration that started me on this journey of cinema was my interview with Netty Chapman, Set Director who has recently directed the set for Barbie, for the engagement portion of my Brevet National des Collèges, from which I learned that if one has a goal that want to pursue they should work relentlessly until they achieve it. As well as part of my oral presentation for the Brevet, I chose to do so on Film, basing it around the interview I had with Mrs. Chapman with which I acquired critical analysis skills which would then prove me to be useful when I started IB.

For my Brevet, part of the examination was based on a project centred around interviewing a person of your choice who is a professional in their domain. I had the outstanding opportunity to interview Ms. Netty Chapman, film art director, most known for her work on The Darkest Hour (2017) and Cyrano (2023).
